Diverse. Strong. Spirited.

WE ARE...a church for people who are at different places in their life and faith journeys.  Whether you are wrestling with life’s big questions or have developed a faith that is strong, you will find space to explore and grow at Clayton United Methodist Church.  It is as John Wesley, the man who shaped the development of the Methodist church said, “If your heart is like my heart, then give me your hand.” We are a smaller church made up of people who represent the full spectrum of life’s stages and experiences.

WE BELIEVE...we can know God most fully through Jesus Christ. We seek to learn to live as Jesus did and to grow in faith through service, study and worship. Worship at Clayton UMC is a celebration of God’s presence and work in our lives.  Our worship style is mostly traditional, with music from a variety of traditions.   We seek personal and social holiness--a life of belief and service--a faith that speaks to our minds and our hearts.

WHAT TO EXPECT...A visitor to Clayton UMC will find a warm welcome.  Dress comfortably, you rarely see a suit and tie at CUMC.  You will be invited to share our delicious mid-day meal.  We gather around a community table each and every Sunday immediately after worship.  As we break bread together we come to know one another and share the stories of our lives.

CHILDREN?  WE LOVE KIDS!...Children are welcome at Clayton UMC.  There’s a special time for younger folks during worship, they are encouraged to share in aspects of worship, including communion.  During the latter part of the worship hour they can choose to attend Sunday School.  We have a professionally staffed nursery that opens at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday morning.

Also check out B.I.G. Stuff for Kids each week for more fun things to do at home with our Sunday School lesson!  http://www.ilivebig.com/

PARKING & ACCESS...Despite all you’ve heard about parking woes in Clayton, it’s really not a problem.  Street-level parking is free on Sunday mornings.  Also on Sunday mornings, worshipers can park in the County Library garage or across the street in the U.S. Post Office.  An accessible entrance to our fellowship hall and sanctuary is located on the Maryland side of our building.
